Top resolutions of the year always revolve around getting back into shape and being healthy. If you don’t want to worry about going to and from the gym and what could be a hefty monthly fee, think about adding some home gym options. A home gym allows you to exercise at your convenience! However, it can be a little tricky to build it out. Avoid the following mistakes when you are setting up your gym at home.
Function is key.
Designing a home gym that looks nice is great, but you need to make sure that it is able to fully function in that space. A lot of people tend to focus on aesthetics so they can impress their guests but then can’t use the space to its advantage.
Focus on flooring.
This should be the first thing that you consider when you are building out an at home gym, but many people tend to overlook this step. You do not want to be doing ab workouts on cold marble flooring or dripping sweat on carpet. Rubber flooring is going to be your best option for your joints and is waterproof.
Put it in the right space.
While you may think using the space in your basement or garage is ideal, consider how often you would want to be in those spaces. They tend to be on the colder side and that could affect your motivation to workout. You also need to remember to consider lighting and ventilation.
Start Small. It seems like there are so many new trendy workout machines taking the world by storm. You may think you need everything, but consider starting small. Think about what you are going to be doing on a consistent basis. You can always build up once you see how much you are using the space.
